Colorado's Great Outdoors Need Your Help!

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has unveiled its 2024 Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP). This plan outlines the future of our state's parks and recreation areas, with a focus on increasing access and protecting natural resources.

While these are commendable goals, we believe there's still room for improvement. To ensure our beloved trails, parks, and wildlife thrive for generations to come, your voice is crucial.

The SCORP plan is open for public comment! We encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas on how to protect and enhance Colorado's outdoor spaces. Your input will help shape the future of our state's natural treasures.

What Does This Mean for Colorado Springs? Colorado Springs is a hub for outdoor recreation, and the SCORP plan has significant implications for our community. The plan could impact local parks, trails, and open spaces, as well as tourism and economic development. It's essential that our community's voice is heard in this process to ensure that the plan aligns with our local priorities.

Below you will see the stated priorities of the plan. Notice that these priorities do not focus on expansion of recreational opportunities. The focus here is on sustaining what we have. While we don’t disagree with the importance of stewardship, we feel most outdoor enthusiasts would prefer the organization put greater priority on the growth of outdoor recreation.

Let's work together to protect and enhance the outdoor spaces we love right here in Colorado Springs.
