Captain Morgans trail has been a rogue trail for decades. As a local favorite, this gravity oriented trail provided riders a rare chance to challenge their skill in extreme ways. The legend of this trail was so evident in master planning processes that it was determined Captain Morgans could be slated for future development as a sanctioned trail. In 2024, Captain Morgan’s will officially become a designated trail, and will be the first double black diamond trail in Colorado Springs.
COSMBA has worked closely with the city to make this a reality, and we look forward to riding it!
UNLIKE ANYTHING ELSE
Captain Morgans will be unlike any other trail. To make sure the downhill nature of the trail is preserved, COSMBA has raised the capital needed to build a feature that allows a trail to pass under it, and give rides some optional air time as well.

MORE THAN JUST one TRAIL
While Captain Morgans will be COSMBA’s main trail project in 2024, there are several trail upgrades happening in North Cheyenne Canyon in 2024. Morgans will cross a new climb trail called “Upper Ladders” that will parallel Gold Camp road from Chutes all the way to the first tunnel. COSMBA will also work with the city to designate Gravel Gutter, aka “The Colonel” as a system trail while providing insight to maximize the trail experience.
