Building new trails is exciting, but what about those that already exist? COSMBA works with community partners to leverage our combined strength to facilitate volunteer driven events that provide opportunities to give back to our trails in mighty ways.

A lot of work goes into trial building. Each new trail takes years of meetings, negotiation, planning, and education before we ever break ground. Once the planning work is finished, we work with all stakeholders to look for cost efficient ways to conduct construction of the trail.

COSMBA isn’t just about trails. We believe that a wholistic approach to advancing the sport of mountainbiking involves investing in the culture and community of riders within Colorado Springs. We actively facilitate public gatherings for all levels and ages of riders as a way to grow strong bonds, promote healthy lifestyles, and share our common interests. We also work closely with other organizations and “Friends” groups to make sure our wild spaces are kept in great shape.

For more than a year, COSMBA has been working behind the scenes to legalize e-bikes on trails in city open spaces. We know, along with most, that e-bikes are more than acceptable in our parks and we are happy to see COS move in the right direction.

Captain Morgan’s became a sanctioned trail this year thanks to the many volunteer hours invested from COSMBA members. This beloved illegal trail required a new trail crossing feature and tons of tread work to bring it into the network. Our work focused on keeping the soul of the trail while improving areas of greatest need.
