Red Rocks Trail Repair on "719 special"

Red Rocks Open Space is a special place - especially for mountain bikers. This dig day repairs a section of trail that has become unrideable. This trail is affectionately known to riders as “719 Special”, but is os officially called the Gypsum Canyon Trail. We will work on a specific section of the trail where a choke point has developed due to an off-camber section of bedrock which forces wheels into a dead tree on riders left. We will remove the tree and install rocks to create a tread that is safe for riders, hikers, and equestrians while making sure the trail stays true to its current level of challenge - HARD.

We will also use this day to do regular maintenance, corridor clearing, and evasive species removal throughout the trail. This will be a fun day and very rewarding for volunteers who ride in Red Rocks often.
